What happens

A Hungarian refugee arrives at an American air base after fleeing Budapest following the failed 1956 uprising. Under questioning, he is revealed to have given false information on his entry forms, and he recounts how he came to be in that position. He describes being imprisoned in Budapest, where a fellow inmate passed him a file that let him escape from a window. Afterward he was taken to a hospital, where a doctor who knew him from the wartime resistance helped him assume the identity of a dead man. The episode is an installment of the Suspense series, first broadcast on January 27, 1957, and the transcript ends during the immigration interview.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
