What happens

Ronald A. Dawson, a department store employee on a round-the-world cruise, travels second class while Miss Patterson, Jones and Twitchell are in the first-class crowd. Ashore at Mozambique, Dawson goes back to a Greek restaurant to retrieve a bronze idol Miss Patterson left behind, but a heavy rain and the dark, unfamiliar streets leave him lost. He takes refuge in a building where a quarrel between two people turns violent, and he finds himself caught up in events he does not understand. Heard as part of Suspense, this 1957 episode starring Sterling Holloway tells Dawson's story in his own voice, with the danger rising as he tries to find his way back to the ship.

Characters: Ronald A. Dawson, Miss Patterson, Jones, Twitchell

Listen for: Dawson's narration as he walks back to the restaurant, the sudden storm, and the tense argument he overhears inside the building

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
