What happens
Postmaster Douglas Jordan receives a phone call warning that a time bomb has been mailed to someone in town and is set to go off that afternoon. He and his staff gather the day's packages and track down the carriers and recipients, trying to find the parcel before the deadline. As the hours pass, each lead either falls through or raises new questions, and the pressure on Jordan and his inspectors grows steadily. The broadcast includes a sponsor message, and it is a Suspense production starring Paul Douglas, first aired on February 1, 1951.
A city post office on a weekday morning and afternoon, with its mail room, inspectors' offices and substations.
Characters: Douglas Jordan, Harvey, Hartley, Fox, Stewart, Williams, Doug, Joe
Listen for: The anonymous caller's warning and the countdown to 2:30, and the inspectors' search through the packages.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
