What happens

Peter Harris, a New York booking agent, sees a ventriloquist named Alexander Wilson perform at a carnival and decides to sign him. Wilson refuses his offers, and the carnival folk around him warn Harris to leave the act alone. Harris is drawn into the mystery of Wilson's reluctance and follows the carnival to Poughkeepsie. This is the Suspense episode Flesh Peddler, first broadcast on August 4, 1957, with DeForest Kelly starring.

A traveling carnival in the Catskills and later in Poughkeepsie, with its painted trailers and midway, and a booking agent's world in New York.

Characters: Peter Harris, Alexander Wilson, Bernice, Arthur, Oliver, Gloria

Listen for: Bernice's warnings to Harris and Wilson's account of his past, told in his trailer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
