Waitress Mildred Johnson works late at a drive-in restaurant on a rainy night when a customer, who calls himself Dr. Russell, orders coffee and a sandwich. He is bloodied and nervous, and after a dropped tray he offers her a ride home. Her apartment is in North Hollywood, but he turns the car the wrong way and takes her up Laurel Canyon, and she begins to realize she is trapped. This is an episode of the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on June 14, 1959, with Margaret Whiting starring.

Listen for: The drive-in clock that may or may not be right, and the shaker of pepper Mildred finds in her apron pocket.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
