What happens

Tom and Linda Peterson set out through a rainstorm to reach the hospital, where Linda is about to give birth, and their young son Bobby comes along in the car. Frank Lovejoy and Joan Banks star in this episode of Suspense, broadcast on June 21, 1959. Tom's plans fall apart on the Hollywood Freeway when a tire blows out, leaving the family stranded on the narrow median divider with no obvious way off. Tom must find help while Linda's labor progresses and Bobby is unaccounted for. The guide ends at this point in the story.

Los Angeles, the Hollywood Freeway, during a San Fernando Valley rainstorm, on the way to the hospital

Characters: Tom Peterson, Linda Peterson, Bobby Peterson, Dr. King

Listen for: The sound of the rain, the police siren on the freeway, and Linda's growing urgency as the family waits on the median

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
