What happens
Sam Crockett, a bookkeeper, confides to his coworker Eddie Sullivan that he has embezzled money from his firm and fears the auditors are closing in. Eddie, eager to help his friend, takes a thousand dollars from the company to bet on a long-shot horse, Altruism, through a bookie named Martin Flint. The bet wins a large sum, but a police raid on the betting parlor leaves both men in custody. This is the Suspense play Double Entry, broadcast on December 20, 1945, with Keenan Wynn and Hume Cronin as the stars.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
