What happens

Commander Fred Enslow and his fiancée Monica Vail board a Philadelphia-bound airliner at New York's Guadiya Field, only to find the cabin already booked for millionaire Silas Naylor and his attendants. Naylor's secretary, Michael Shepherd, objects to the extra passengers, and the tension grows when the air hostess, Miss Lee, is found injured in the pantry. When the plane fails to arrive at Philadelphia, the passengers realise it is flying out over the Atlantic Ocean with no one at the controls. This is the Suspense radio drama Death Flies Blind, aired on 4 May 1943 with Richard Dix and Gale Page, from a story by John Dixon Carr.

A commercial airliner flying from New York toward Philadelphia during wartime, and later over the Atlantic Ocean.

Characters: Fred Enslow, Monica Vail, Silas Naylor, Michael Shepherd, Miss Lee, O'Reilly, Cohen

Listen for: The clock reading and the mention of German-language instructions on a torn scrap of paper.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
