What happens
Police Lieutenant Steve Healy investigates after Ernest Bowers, who suffers from catalepsy, collapses following a traffic accident and appears dead. Bowers carries a note asking that his wife be notified and that his body not be embalmed or autopsied for seventy-two hours. His identifying silver bracelet is picked up by two boys who melt it down, while his jacket, containing the note, is sold to a secondhand dealer by an honest shop owner named Jerry Murdock. Henry Prince buys the jacket and reads the letter. Dr. Theodore Weldon and two embalmers handle the body at the hospital and morgue, where the facts of Bowers's condition come into question. Suspense is presented by Roma Wines in 1946 and stars Wally Maher.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
