What happens

Dr. Bronson writes a farewell letter to his friend Mosher just before midnight, explaining the experiment he has carried out. Convinced that five checks restrain men from murder, he has tested a clerk named Totten, a criminal named Matt Doyle, a nurse-turned-intern named Judas Ainsley, and a man named Ladern, offering each a motive and an opportunity to kill him. Each test is recounted in turn, beginning with Totten's refusal on religious grounds. The Suspense episode aired on August 15, 1946, starring Henry Daniel and written by Richard Craig and Leonard Sinclair.

Dr. Bronson's study and apartment in a city, a church street, a dark alley, a hospital, and a doctor's lounge, in the late 1940s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
