What happens

Edgar Lowndes, a wealthy railroad magnate, visits psychiatrist Dr. Erenson, complaining of headaches that began after the death of his invalid wife. He admits to a nagging doubt about the night she died, when he left her alone and gave her the wrong medicine. As he recounts the past, the doctor begins to suspect a pattern of earlier deaths in Lowndes's life. Part of this episode of Suspense, a 1944 broadcast sponsored by Roma Wine, stars Thomas Mitchell as Lowndes and Donald Crisp as the doctor.

A psychiatrist's consulting room in a city, with flashbacks to a railroad accident and to Lowndes's childhood.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
