What happens
Suspense presents Arctic Rescue, first broadcast December 22, 1952, starring Joseph Cotton. In 1852, Captain Jonathan Blake and first mate Gerald Stewart leave New York aboard the Jessica to search for Sir John Franklin and his lost ships, the Erebus and Terror, at the request of Lady Franklin. Their voyage takes them north past Greenland and into the Arctic, where they hear of Franklin's men and find a naval button and a message left behind. Ice closes in around the ship, and by September the Jessica is frozen fast in the pack. The crew endures a brutal winter, the deaths of many men, and a second Christmas in the ice, with the ship's fate still uncertain.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
