What happens

Lieutenant Royles and Detective Sergeant Shank of the narcotics detail investigate the supply of marijuana cigarettes reaching high school students. The case begins when Walter Graf finds a coffee can of cigarettes in his 16-year-old daughter Joan's bedroom and calls the police. Joan is booked and questioned, and she names her high school boyfriend, Nicky Malone, as her source. Nicky denies everything, so the officers place him under surveillance and follow him to a coffee shop. Suspense, the series, is broadcast on CBS; this episode aired December 29, 1952, starring John Lund.

A city in the early 1950s, including the Graf house, police headquarters, a rundown house on the Malone side of town, and a coffee shop near a high school.

Characters: Lieutenant Royles, Detective Sergeant Shank, Walter Graf, Joan Graf, Nicky Malone, Freddie Malone

Listen for: Joan's reluctance to name her source, and the coffee shop jukebox record that gives Nicky away.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
