What happens
Juror Albert Benning and his wife Anne find an envelope of ten thousand dollars with a note on the floor of a drugstore near the courthouse. The note suggests the money is a bribe meant for a juror in the Edward Harmon murder trial, and Albert is himself serving on that jury. Soon two men arrive, claim the money, and take Anne with them as a hostage to ensure the verdict. Albert turns to the police, and the detective Dan works to trace the men and the case behind the bribe. The episode is a Suspense play from December 7, 1950, starring Ray Milland.
A city courthouse and drugstore, an apartment on Fifth Street, and the streets of the Lower East Side during the Harmon murder trial.
Characters: Albert Benning, Anne Benning, Mr. Edelson, Dan, Johnny, Edward Harmon
Listen for: Pay attention to the note read aloud in the drugstore and to the details the elevator boy gives about the two men.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
