What happens

Alan Ladd plays a stranger who rides into Pleasant Valley searching for the man who killed his brother in Abilene two years earlier. He finds the townspeople gathered around a freshly dug grave, where a man named Fred Costen has just been buried, and they are angry and suspicious of him. Their talk turns to a fight Costen had with a man called Lee Burridge, and the town's men are gathering to deal with Burridge themselves. The stranger tries to take Burridge back to Abilene for a fair trial, but the townsmen refuse, and the situation grows tense as the storm clouds gather over the valley.

Pleasant Valley, a small frontier town in the American West, with the surrounding canyon country, during the late afternoon and evening under a gathering storm.

Characters: Alan Ladd, Lee Burridge, Fred Costen, Jake Garvey, Ben Chaffy, Mrs. Costen

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
