What happens
Clark Kent is pursued by Herbert Corkins, a Scotland Yard detective who is convinced that Kent is really Superman. Corkins has been trying to expose him, and tonight he forces Kent to attend a World Peace Federation rally at Metropolis Stadium, where Superman is scheduled to speak. Kent slips away from his apartment, and Batman, who has the same build and a deep voice, agrees to stand in for Superman at the stadium while Kent remains in the audience beside Corkins. At the rally, Batman appears on stage in Superman's costume and a rubber mask, but Corkins grows suspicious and demands that the figure prove he is Superman by flying. The series is The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on July 26, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
