What happens
Superman tracks down the racketeer Rock Nielsen after the Daily Planet exposes a housing racket that cheated war veterans of their savings. Nielsen's henchmen Joe and Eddie hold editor Perry White in a Metropolis warehouse, and Superman arrives to rescue him. Reporters Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen are at the Daily Planet offices as the story is wrapped up. Later, former song-publishing racketeers Professor Blessing and Froggy meet a diner owner called Max in Metropolis, hinting at a new scheme. The episode is part one of a two-part story in the Adventures of Superman series, first broadcast on December 27, 1946.
Metropolis, during the Christmas season: a warehouse, the Daily Planet offices, and a shabby diner.
Characters: Superman, Perry White, Rock Nielsen, Joe, Eddie, Brownie, Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen
Listen for: Superman's rescue of Perry White at the warehouse, and the diner meeting between Professor Blessing, Froggy and Max, where the new scheme is introduced.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
