What happens
Lois Lane and Horatio Horne go out to the North Fishing Banks to look into a reported sea monster that has frightened the fishermen of St. Selmo. Their boat, skippered by Captain Marvel, is rammed and sunk by a huge red-eyed creature, leaving the three clinging to wreckage in the open sea. Superman finds them and brings them back to the village, where Clark Kent tends to them and then sets out alone to find the creature. Later that night, Lois sees the red eyes approaching the beach from her window, and she and Horatio go down to investigate. There they find Captain Marvel's overturned boat, the Nancy Ruth, close to shore, which makes the mystery deeper.
