What happens

Clark Kent, a reporter for The Daily Planet, is called to Washington by John Ives, director of the Hemisphere Administration, to help solve the disappearance of engineering expeditions in the Andes Mountains. Back in Metropolis, Kent learns that Perry White plans to fly a stratoplane to South America to investigate the case, with Lois Lane and the pilot Brunson aboard. Kent asks White to radio him if anything unusual happens. The episode ends with the stratoplane climbing to great altitude, its oxygen supply failing and its controls jammed, while White tries to contact Washington. The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on November 17, 1941, is presented in this episode as a continuing serial.

Washington, D.C., Metropolis, and a stratoplane flying toward the Andes Mountains in South America

Characters: Clark Kent, John Ives, Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Brunson

Listen for: The strange flute-like noises in the cabin as the stratoplane climbs, and the failing oxygen supply and jammed controls.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
