What happens
Clark Kent and Herbert Dawkins, a Scotland Yard detective, search for young Bucky Taylor, a thirteen-year-old orphan who vanished from an ocean liner. Their lead is Philippe, a man who may know where the boy is. Instead they find Dawkins bound and gagged in Philippe's room, and then a hand grenade explodes in the cellar where a trunk belonging to Philippe was kept. Kent recalls a snapshot he glimpsed inside the trunk and describes the man in it to a sketch artist. Dawkins and Kent have the sketch printed in the local papers and then receive a call from a man offering information about the man in the photograph. The episode is part five of the serial The Man Without a Face, broadcast on the 1947 Superman radio series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
