What happens

Clark Kent, working for the Daily Planet, searches for thirteen-year-old Bucky Taylor, the orphaned son of a former foreign correspondent who vanished from a ship bound for America. Kent traces a clue to a rooming house in Le Havre, where he expected to find a man named Philippe. Instead he finds Herbert Cawkins of Scotland Yard, bound and unconscious on the floor. Cawkins explains that a dangerous figure known only as the Man Without a Face may be behind a plot against the world peace organization, and that Bucky may hold the key to it. The two men search the room and then the proprietor's trunk in the cellar, where a sudden explosion erupts. The episode is part four of the Superman serial, broadcast on Mutual on March 21, 1947, with the program sponsored by Kellogg's PEP cereal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
