What happens

Clark Kent leaves a letter at the Daily Planet saying he is going away on a mission and may never return, stunning his colleagues Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane and editor Perry White. As the hours pass with no word from him, the staff becomes increasingly worried and searches his apartment, where his landlord confirms Kent told him he might not come back. Lois dismisses the letter as a typical Clark stunt, but the search finds no clue to where he went. Perry White then receives a call from the scientist Dr. John Millison, who claims to know what happened.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
