What happens
Clark Kent, a reporter for the Daily Planet, and his colleague Jimmy Olsen investigate a strange evening at a theater. After interviewing the British explorer Sidney Reichroft, they attend a performance by the magician Gambini, who makes Reichroft vanish inside a sealed box and does not bring her back. Backstage, an elderly man insists the theater has been closed for years, and the dusty stage and dressing rooms seem to support him. Kent later returns alone, and events at the theater take a sudden turn. The series is The Adventures of Superman, and this installment first aired on January 17, 1941.
A metropolitan city, including a theater and the offices of the Daily Planet newspaper
Characters: Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, Sidney Reichroft, Gambini, Perry White, Lois Lane
Listen for: The contradiction between the theater's apparent recent performance and its dusty, long-closed state
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
