What happens
Clark Kent investigates after the Metropolis University football team collapses in the final quarter of a game against State College. He learns that a legacy of $3 million from the late Richard goes to the university only if it raises $500,000 itself, and that the money will instead pass to three unidentified heirs if the team fails to go through the season undefeated. Earlier, a gorilla named Hercules had been found loose in the medical laboratory, and Kent receives a threatening note warning him to mind his own business. Kent suspects that someone is interfering with the team to keep the legacy from the university, and he sets out to learn who the heirs are. This episode is part four of the Metropolis Football Team Poisoned storyline in The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on September 8, 1941.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
