What happens
Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet, investigates why the Metropolis University football team collapsed in the fourth quarter of its game against State College. He suspects human interference and believes the outcome matters because a bequest of three million dollars to the university's medical research laboratory depends on the school raising five hundred thousand dollars. Kent argues with his editor, Terry White, over whether the story deserves page one, then receives a threatening message warning him to keep his nose out of other people's business. He heads to the university to see Professor Nelson, the medical school dean, taking the young copy boy Jimmy along. The episode is part three of The Adventures of Superman, first aired on September 5, 1941.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
