What happens
Clark Kent and Jimmy Oates are aboard the Clara M, the last of the clipper ships, caught in a violent storm far from land. Superman, having returned to Metropolis to look into strange happenings aboard the ship, hears the distress call and races back to help. The anchor has broken loose and is battering the hull, and First Mate Barnaby, whose wooden leg was crushed in the rolling, is injured. Captain Hawkins has been hurt badly and is in serious condition. The crew struggles to secure the anchor, and Clark Kent makes a desperate plan to save the captain's life.
