What happens
Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen are sailing around the world aboard the clipper ship Clara M. Strange events have plagued the voyage, including a mysterious whistle said to be the spirit of a lost seaman. When Captain Hawkins is nearly struck by a falling belaying pin, Clark pulls him to safety, and Teak Barnaby insists the pin fell by accident. Later, Jimmy hears Barnaby arguing with a crewman named Limey about ghosts and silence. Jimmy then sets off in the darkness to follow the Whistler and learn whether it is a living person. The episode ends on his cliffhanger. This is part three of The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on March 10, 1941.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
