What happens

Clark Kent and editor Perry White of the Daily Planet run a word contest in an attempt to identify a foreign word used by the abductors of kidnapped atomic scientist Professor Alonso Sturgeon, hoping a reader will reveal the country where he is held. In Metropolis, the Pardez family reads about the contest, and Papa Pardez mails in an entry naming the word saluto. Meanwhile, in the country of Bolemar, dictator Rex prepares a surprise atomic attack on the United States. The Adventures of Superman is the series, and the lead actors are not named in the transcript.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
