What happens
Clark Kent and Lois Lane, reporters for the Daily Planet, travel to the manufacturing town of Melville to cover an explosion that killed thirteen employees at a doll factory owned by Hans Holbein. On the road, a man with a lantern warns them the way is flooded, and when they press on, he pulls a gun on Clark, who puts him out of action. Later, Clark slips away in his Superman disguise to examine the wreckage, while Lois visits Holbein at his home, where he begins to hold her there against her will. This is the first part of the story from The Adventures of Superman, a radio series first broadcast on June 24, 1940, with no lead actors named in the transcript.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
