What happens

Clark Kent and Inspector Henderson plan to draw out George Latimer, a crooked political boss who they believe tried to murder Governor Wheeler and framed war veterans for a killing. Lacking proof, they set a trap: Kent proposes making Latimer believe the governor is dead. Superman helps by playing a recording of the governor's voice in Latimer's dark bedroom, and the frightened politician begins to crack under the strain. The series is The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on September 24, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
