What happens

Clark Kent and Lois Lane are in a half-burned mountain cabin with old telegrapher Abner Sykes, who believes a shortwave radio signal is linked to a drought threatening war veteran homesteaders in Freeville. Sykes blames Uncle Ed Clayton, a rabble-rousing former governor running for the Senate, and says he was attacked earlier after talking to a county agricultural officer. Clark works through the strange signal directions, trying to make sense of them. Meanwhile, Clayton and his editor Fred Leonard learn Sykes is still alive and plot to silence him and any reporters with him. Clark leaves the cabin in a hurry as Superman, while armed men drive up the slope toward it.

Freeville and the nearby mountains, including a half-burned cabin and Uncle Ed Clayton's mansion overlooking a river.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
