What happens
Lois Lane and Jerry Barton, a young war veteran, overhear a secret political rally in the woods led by Edward C. Clayton, a former governor running for senate. Discovered, they are escorted through the woods by two of Clayton's men, who send them toward a deadly quicksand bog. Trapped and sinking, Lois and Jerry struggle to escape while Clark Kent, at the Legion Post, learns of the danger from Phil Dyer. Clark then changes into Superman and flies to the clearing, where he finds the two and pulls them free. Clark later questions them about Clayton's claims concerning the drought. The series is The Adventures of Superman, first aired on February 4, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
