What happens

Clark Kent and Lois Lane arrive in Freeville to report on a strange drought, and anonymous warnings tell them to leave. Lois goes with Jerry Barton, a young war veteran, to a secret rally in the woods, where the politician Edward C. Clayton, known locally as Uncle Ed, gives a bitter speech. Discovered by his henchmen, Lois and Jerry are marched away under armed guard along an unfamiliar trail. Meanwhile Superman searches for them at the veterans' post, where Clark Kent is growing anxious. This part of the serial stops with the pair walking toward an unseen danger.

Freeville, a farming area suffering a ruinous drought, with a dense forest and a veterans' legion post at a crossroads

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
