What happens

Clark Kent and editor Perry White are held prisoner in a dingy room by Duke Renard's men after being lured there by two men posing as police officers. Renard is plotting to kill Henry Benson, a former city treasurer jailed for a million-dollar shortage, before Benson is moved to the state prison. Kent, unable to act as Superman with White present, tries to reach his inventor friend Dr. Walter Robling through Robling's voice machine, sending a message over and over. Meanwhile, at the district attorney's office, Lois Lane is questioned about how Kent learned of the plot, and Dr. Robling then contacts the police about the message he received. This is an episode of The Adventures of Superman, first aired on August 22, 1941.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
