What happens
Clark Kent, the mild-mannered reporter who is also Superman, searches for Lois Lane after she vanishes from a hotel. Lois, who had posed as the daughter of inventor Dr. Roebling, was held in a hotel room and escapes by climbing down a rope of torn bedsheets, which tears but drops her onto mattresses below. Meanwhile, Dr. Roebling is being drugged by his unscrupulous nephew and the nephew's blonde wife, who force him to sign a document over his secret voice machine. The story is part four of The Adventures of Superman, first heard on August 4, 1941. The episode ends as Clark pursues a blue roadster carrying the couple and the signed papers.
A hotel in the city, a hotel room on the fifth floor, a barren tenement room, and the city streets.
Characters: Superman, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Dr. Roebling, Jack, Dr. Walter Roebling
Listen for: Lois's perilous descent by bedsheet rope and her near fall, Clark's rescue of her, and the chase after the blue roadster.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
