What happens

Clark Kent, a reporter at the Daily Planet, argues with editor Perry White about being assigned to the case of Dr. Deutsch and his espionage ring. White refuses, citing the danger. Commander Leeds then phones to ask for Kent's help, and White agrees to lend him to the naval base. Meanwhile Dr. Deutsch and Hans, having tapped the telephone line, overhear the call and plot to draw Kent to them. Deutsch explains a secret vacuum bomb designed to wreck machinery, and Hans is sent disguised as a typewriter repairman to fit it inside a typewriter at the Planet office. Jimmy Olsen, who questions the repairman, is locked in a closet, and the bomb is set to go off when a certain word is typed.

The Daily Planet newspaper office, a naval base, and a secret hideout shack.

Listen for: The telephone call from the naval base, and Jimmy Olsen's suspicions about the repairman.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
