What happens
Clark Kent and his ranch hand Tumbleweed guard a motorcade of three tank trucks carrying crude oil toward the Bear River refinery, after the trucks were earlier shot and patched. Abner Chaney, head of the local bank, is trying to force oil producers to use his pipeline, and the trucks are the producers' alternative. Clark goes to the cookhouse for a sandwich for Jimmy and finds Chuck Conner, who has been overheard hinting that something will happen to the trucks in five minutes. Clark ties Chuck up to question him, then rushes off to reach the trucks. Meanwhile, Jimmy finds Chuck bound on the floor, and Clark has vanished.
