What happens

Clark Kent, secretly Superman, works at the Daily Planet, which has been sued for a million dollars by mayoral candidate Martin Higgins over letters the paper claims tie Higgins to criminals. The letters have vanished. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are missing after a struggle in the newspaper office, and Clark goes searching for them while suspicion falls on a young employee, Mary Henning. The story is still unfolding in this part of the episode, as the Daily Planet staff grows more anxious about the lawsuit and the fate of their colleagues. The Adventures of Superman radio series aired on June 3, 1946.

Metropolis, at the Daily Planet newspaper office and police headquarters, with a shabby tenement and a pawn shop in the city.

Characters: Clark Kent, Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Mary Henning, Al Vincent, Martin Higgins, Inspector Henderson

Listen for: Clark Kent's suspicion that Mary Henning took the letters, and the search for Lois and Jimmy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
