What happens

Dr Weird reads aloud from the secret journal of Professor Drake, a scientist whose son Paul has tested a serum that doubles his strength. The serum begins to reverse Paul's development, turning him into a primitive ape-like man. Paul loses hours of memory during his transformations, and a girl is found murdered on the university campus. Professor Drake's household, including his fiancée Julia, must confront what is happening to Paul as the police close in. The story is told in the form of Dr Weird's reading to his visitor Joe.

A laboratory and house of Professor Drake, with a university campus and city streets nearby, in the present day of the 1940s.

Listen for: Entries from Professor Drake's journal, Paul's transformation and his lost hours, and the police hunt for the creature in the streets.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
