What happens

Radio detective Wally Benton, known to listeners as the Fox, is persuaded by his fiancée Carol Lambert to travel to Fort Dixon, Georgia, after Ella May Lee asks for his help. Ella May's sweetheart, Martin Gordon, has been murdered in the ruins of an old Civil War fort, and she believes the Fox can find the killer. Wally and his companions explore the fort at night, where they are shot at, and they later examine Gordon's papers and an encoded note. The episode is a Screen Guild Theater presentation from the Lady Esther series, broadcast on May 17, 1943, starring Red Skelton, Claire Trevor and Virginia Gray.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
