What happens
Young Charlie Newton lives with her family in the small town of Santa Rosa, California, where life feels dull. She invites her uncle Charles, whom she has not seen in years, to visit, and he arrives to charm the household. Charlie grows uneasy after noticing a newspaper story about a murderer that her uncle clearly wants hidden. Screen Guild Theater presented this adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's film on May 24, 1943, with Deanna Durbin and Joseph Cotton in the leading roles. Two men claiming to work on a family survey begin to take an interest in the household, and Charlie finds herself pulled into a tense conflict with her uncle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
