What happens

Kitty Whittaker's husband is overseas, and she asks to leave her baby daughter Susan with her parents Sam and Francis while she joins him. Her family argues over who will care for the child, and Sam, a would-be businessman, agrees to take a job after a friend promises to double his savings. Sam's household schemes and money troubles pile up as the household grows crowded with relatives and staff. The Screen Guild Theater presents this 1945 comedy, based on the stage play by Phoebe and Henry Ephron, with Charles Ruggles, Faye Bainter, Helen Broderick and Hattie McDaniel as the lead players.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
