What happens

Father O'Malley, a priest, arrives at St. Dominic's parish to take charge, but his new curate, Father Chuck Fitzgibbon, the old pastor, has long served there and is wary of the newcomer. Bing Crosby plays the young priest, opposite Barry Fitzgerald as the veteran Father Fitzgibbon, in this presentation of the 1944 Paramount picture Going My Way, staged on the Screen Guild Players series, originally aired January 8, 1945. The broadcast brings the film's stars together for the Red Book Magazine Awards, with clips of the picture and conversation about its making, including a dinner scene and a conversation between the two priests in the study. A boy named Tony is accused of stealing a turkey, and the two priests disagree about him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
