What happens

Helen Brent, a department store worker in New York, meets Lieutenant Hank Travers, an Air Transport Command officer who is passing through the city before shipping out. Helen's friend Jerry, a private, resents Hank's attention to her and the two men clash. Helen finds herself drawn to Hank, who is charming and evasive about his past, while his orders to fly overseas threaten to cut short their brief romance. Their relationship grows more complicated as departure approaches. This episode of Screen Guild Theater, based on the Broadway play by Eddie Chodoroff, stars Virginia Bruce as Helen, Robert Young as Hank and Bill Williams as Jerry.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
