What happens
Broadway composer Oscar Rayburn and director Lloyd travel south to find a fresh leading lady for their new Civil War musical after their star, Myra Stanhope, quits in a temper. Along the way they are detained by a local sheriff and taken to Magnolia Hall, the home of the Bethany family. There they meet Cindy Lou Bethany, a young woman who has been trying to break into the theatre and who is eager to be discovered. This is Screen Guild Theater's 1945 adaptation of Claire Booth Luce's play Kiss the Boys Goodbye, first aired on September 24, 1945, with Dinah Shore, Sunny Tufts and Johnny Mercer in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
