What happens

Helen Winters, a statistician for an insurance company, proposes a marriage plan in which a couple lives together as husband and wife only after a three-month trial, to reduce divorce. Her fiancé, Tice Collins, reluctantly agrees, and the two marry, but their new home soon becomes complicated. Helen's boss, Gordon Daniels, takes a personal interest in her, while Tice's lawyer, Harry Bertrand, arranges for an important business client to visit the couple for the weekend. The Screen Guild Theater presents this 1943 broadcast of the Lady Esther series, starring George Brent, Alice Faye and Alan Jocelyn.

A house in town and a nearby lake, where Helen and Tice have newly married.

Listen for: Helen's proposal of the three-month marriage plan and Tice's reactions to it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
