What happens

Walter Mitty, a meek magazine proofreader, is on his way to work when he is pulled into a series of mishaps. He keeps drifting into daydreams of heroism while the people around him press him into action. Along the way he meets Rosalind Van Horn, who asks for his help after claiming she is being followed. Their plans soon involve a missing item and a cab that carries a body, leaving Walter stuck between his fantasies and real danger. The Screen Guild Theater presents this 1947 adaptation of James Thurber's story, broadcast on November 3, 1947, with Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo starring in their original film roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
