What happens

Private detective Sam McCloud is hired by Carlotta Montane, a young woman who claims her elderly husband, the Baron Montane, has been kidnapped and is confined to a wheelchair. Sam takes the case despite his reluctance, and his assistant Ronnie, an aspiring photographer, becomes involved as well. Carlotta's story shifts strangely, and Sam finds himself questioning the household, which includes a polished major and a stern doctor. The Screen Guild Theater presents this 1947 broadcast of My Favorite Brunette, hosted by Ralph Morgan and sponsored by Camel cigarettes. The story continues with Sam chasing answers and facing danger as the mystery deepens.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
