What happens

Father O'Malley, the new pastor of St. Mary's school, tries to help Sister Benedict keep the old school building from being sold and torn down for a parking lot. Mr. Bogardus, the owner, is reluctant to give up the property. Meanwhile, Father O'Malley takes an interest in Patsy Gallagher, a new pupil whose schoolwork is struggling, and he encourages her with an essay on the five senses. Bing Crosby plays Father O'Malley and Ingrid Bergman plays Sister Benedict, with Joan Carroll as Patsy. This 1947 episode of the Screen Guild Theater was broadcast on October 6, 1947, as the opening program of the series' season sponsored by Camel cigarettes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
