What happens
In wartime London, a cheerful widow named Mrs. Dowie hosts three charwomen for tea, and they boast about the letters and photographs they receive from sons serving at the front. When the Reverend Mr. Willings announces that a Scottish soldier named Kenneth Dowie has arrived in London and is coming to see his mother, Mrs. Dowie must face a difficult situation. The episode is an adaptation of J. M. Barrie's play The Old Lady Shows Her Medals, broadcast on Screen Guild Theater on October 7, 1946. Ethel Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. star in the production.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
